Man’s body found burned in forest on Vilnius outskirts
A man’s body was discovered burned in a forest fire on the outskirts of Vilnius on Friday afternoon, Lithuanian media reported.
The incident was first reported to emergency services at 15:40 local time, with calls indicating a fire near Kirtimų Street, according to news portal Delfi. Firefighters responding to the scene found approximately five acres of forest floor ablaze, along with the charred remains of an unidentified man.
Authorities confirmed to Delfi that the victim’s identity has not yet been established. Investigators revealed that the initial emergency call came from a person reporting their own leg was on fire. Upon arrival, responders found not only the burning forest but also the deceased individual.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation by police.
