The bodies of two unidentified people were discovered in a forest in Lithuania’s Vilkaviškis district on Thursday, with eight undocumented migrants detained at the scene, police reported.

According to the Lithuanian Police Department, officers found the bodies of a man and a woman, both estimated to be between 30 and 35 years old, in a wooded area near Rūkštėnai village at around 8:17 AM. There were no visible signs of external violence on the bodies.

At the same location, authorities apprehended eight undocumented migrants—seven men and one woman—none of whom possessed identity documents. Two of the migrants were taken to a hospital for medical assessment, while the remaining six were transferred to the State Border Guard Service (VSAT).

An investigation into the cause of death has been launched. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under examination.
