Lithuanian president awards 53 mothers and guardians state honours
President Gitanas Nausėda has awarded the Order For Merits to Lithuania to 53 mothers and guardians from across the country ahead of Mother’s Day, the Presidential Office announced on Thursday.
The recipients were recognised for their dedication to motherhood, guardianship, and care, as well as their sense of responsibility, self-sacrifice, and inspiring example to their communities. In a statement, Nausėda described a loving mother as “the greatest fortune in life,” emphasising that children draw daily strength from their mother’s warmth, care, and support.
“For us, your children, there is no greater or more important source of inspiration than a mother’s love and the gentle, patient, nurturing dignity of guardians,” the president said. He thanked the awardees for raising children with strong moral foundations and values that will be passed on to future generations.
The formal presentation of the honours will take place at a ceremony in May. Lithuania observes Mother’s Day on the first Sunday of May, falling on May 3 this year.
