Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has signed two laws formalising the establishment of a new military training ground in Kapčiamiestis and the expansion of the existing range in Tauragė, state broadcaster LRT reports.

Speaking to journalists at the Presidential Palace on Thursday, Nausėda described the move as a “clear political commitment” to strengthen Lithuania’s defence capabilities and contribute to NATO’s collective defence framework.

“Today I signed two important laws. The establishment of the Kapčiamiestis range and the expansion of the Tauragė range (…) represent our clear political resolve to bolster our defensive capacity and consistently support NATO’s collective defence,” the president stated.
