Fire breaks out in Vilnius forest area

A forest fire erupted early Wednesday in a wooded area along Ukmergės Street in Vilnius, with thick smoke visible across the capital, LRT reports.

Firefighters received reports of the blaze just before 8 a.m. and dispatched a single fire engine to the scene, according to the State Fire and Rescue Service. The fire affected both trees and forest floor vegetation.

Morning commuters in the area observed heavy smoke rising from the burning site.
