Šiauliai police build new consolidated headquarters under private partnership
Construction has begun on a modern police commissariat in Šiauliai that will centralise all local police divisions under one roof, LRT reports. A ceremonial time capsule was laid during the groundbreaking on April 28.
The four-storey building, developed through a public-private partnership, is scheduled for completion in early 2027. Under the 12-year agreement, the private partner will maintain and manage the facility after construction. The police will pay approximately €22 million over the contract period.
Once operational, the new headquarters will house nearly 150 officers alongside administrative, utility, and sports facilities. Consolidation will reduce the total space used by Šiauliai police by one-third compared to current dispersed locations.
Marius Jablonskas, head of Šiauliai’s chief police commissariat, noted that improved working conditions could aid recruitment. “When choosing a profession, salary and duties matter—but so do workplace conditions. While this may not be decisive, it will certainly help,” he said.
