Strong winds to persist in Lithuania with brief rain and sleet possible

Strong winds will continue across Lithuania on Tuesday, with brief rain showers and even sleet or snow pellets expected in some areas, the country’s Hydrometeorological Service has reported.

According to forecaster Simona Dalinkevičiūtė, precipitation will be scattered and more likely in the afternoon, primarily as rain but with possible sleet or snow pellets. Skies will be partly cloudy, and winds will remain strong from the northwest, with temperatures ranging from 6°C to 11°C. The western regions will be the coolest, while the southwest will see the highest temperatures.

Conditions will improve slightly overnight into Wednesday, with winds gradually easing. Frost is expected on the ground and in the air, with temperatures dropping to between –6°C and –1°C in most areas, though the western half of the country may stay just above freezing at 0°C to 4°C. Daytime temperatures on Wednesday will again reach 6°C to 11°C, with light rain possible in places and moderate northwesterly winds.

Thursday’s weather will remain similar, with a chance of light precipitation and wind speeds of 5–10 m/s. Frost will return overnight, with lows of –1°C to –6°C, but daytime highs will climb to 7–13°C.

Forecasters predict a shift to sunnier and calmer conditions over the weekend, though frost will persist at night. Daytime temperatures are expected to rise significantly, reaching 14–20°C in many areas.
