Lithuanian public trusts President Nausėda most, followed by Tapinas and Žemaitaitis – survey
A new public opinion poll shows Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda remains the most trusted public figure in the country, though his support has slightly declined, reports LRT citing data from Baltijos tyrimai research agency.
The survey, conducted between March 19–30, asked residents which Lithuanian public figures they trusted most. Respondents named 118 individuals, down from 128 in the previous poll three months earlier.
President Nausėda was trusted most by 10.4% of respondents, compared to 13% in December. Journalist Andrius Tapinas ranked second, trusted by 6.9% (down from 8%), followed closely by Remigijus Žemaitaitis, leader of the Nemuno aušra movement, at 6.7% (previously 9%).
Seimas member Ignas Vėgėlė placed fourth with 6.2% (up from 3.1% in December), while former President Dalia Grybauskaitė rounded out the top five at 6.1% (up from 5.3%).
Other figures in the top ten included former Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė (5.2%), Conservative Party leader Laurynas Kasčiūnas (4.8%), ex-President Valdas Adamkus (4.1%), former Democratic Union leader Saulius Skvernelis (4%), and current Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė (3.4%).
Notably, 30% of respondents stated they did not trust any public figure. Compared to December, new entries in the top list included Seimas member Vytautas Sinica, MEP Virginijus Sinkevičius, and Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas, while support declined for former Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, MEP Vilija Blinkevičiūtė, and Seimas member Agnė Širinskienė.
The poll, commissioned by ELTA, surveyed 1,009 Lithuanian residents aged 18 and older across 110 locations, with a margin of error of up to 3.1%.
