Lithuanian border guards prevented ten irregular migrants from entering the country from Belarus last week, the State Border Guard Service reported on Sunday.

According to the agency, Latvian authorities blocked 40 attempts to cross the border illegally on Saturday, while Polish officials recorded no unauthorised border-crossing attempts on Friday.

This year, Lithuania has denied entry to 562 irregular migrants. In 2025, there were over 1,600 attempts to cross into the country from Belarus at unauthorised points, compared to 1,002 such attempts in 2024.

Since the start of the migration crisis orchestrated by Belarus in 2021, Lithuanian border guards have stopped more than 25,000 foreigners from entering the country illegally. Western officials have accused Minsk of deliberately facilitating the influx of migrants into the EU’s eastern member states.
