Lithuania to face rain, strong winds and colder weather this weekend
Lithuania’s state meteorological service has warned of rain, strong winds and a drop in temperatures as an active cyclone moves across the country this weekend, public broadcaster LRT reports.
Early Friday morning remained mostly dry but chilly, with temperatures hovering around 0–2°C in many regions and ground frost reported. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach 9–14°C, with overcast skies and scattered showers developing in western areas by evening.
A more pronounced shift in weather is forecast for Saturday. While the night will stay dry with temperatures between 0–5°C, a cyclone will bring increasing cloud cover and widespread rain by afternoon, particularly in southern Lithuania. Winds will strengthen, with gusts of 15–20 m/s expected in the second half of the day. Highs will reach 10–15°C, though coastal areas will see cooler conditions at 7–9°C.
Sunday will bring even colder air from the north, with periods of rain and sleet. Winds will remain strong, with local gusts up to 23 m/s, and daytime temperatures will drop to 4–9°C. Mixed precipitation and gusty winds are likely to persist into early next week.
