Fraudsters steal €100,000 from company in Marijampolė

Fraudsters have stolen €100,000 from a company in Marijampolė, Lithuanian police reported on Monday.

The company’s director notified authorities on Tuesday after discovering that unidentified individuals had fraudulently withdrawn the funds from the firm’s bank account, according to the Police Department.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched on suspicion of fraud. Under Lithuanian criminal law, those found guilty of obtaining high-value property or financial rights through deception face imprisonment of up to eight years.
