Lithuanian customs officials in Klaipėda have confiscated a shipment of 2,400 candy packages from China after suspecting intellectual property violations, LRT reports.

The packages featured the image of Labubu, a popular toy character, without authorisation. An investigation confirmed that while the candy itself did not infringe copyright, the plastic packaging unlawfully used the protected character’s likeness.

The rights holder and the Lithuanian company intended to receive the shipment reached an agreement: the unauthorised packaging will be destroyed, while the candy will be returned to the recipient under a declared customs procedure. Administrative proceedings for industrial property rights violation have been initiated against the Lithuanian firm.
