Drier but cooler weather expected with frost warnings
Lithuania will experience drier but cooler weather in the coming days, with overnight frosts expected, the country’s Hydrometeorological Service has announced.
Speaking to LRT Radio, forecaster Ineta Daunoravičiūtė said Sunday would bring partly cloudy skies with occasional breaks of sunshine, though no significant rainfall is expected. Northeasterly winds will strengthen, becoming gusty in places, with daytime temperatures ranging from 10°C to 15°C. Cooler conditions will persist in northeastern regions (around 10°C), while the warmest areas will be in the south (14–15°C).
The start of the new week will see similar conditions, with Monday forecast to be dry and mostly clear. Northeasterly winds will continue, moderate at night but freshening to 7–12 m/s during the day. Overnight temperatures will drop below freezing, with ground and air frosts of –1°C to –6°C expected across most of the country, except near the coast. Daytime highs will again reach 10–15°C.
The forecaster noted that the dry, cool pattern will persist through midweek, with sunny and fair weather dominating. Frost will remain a nightly risk, with temperatures dipping to –4°C to –6°C, while afternoons will stay in the 10–15°C range, slightly cooler along the coast.
No rainfall is anticipated until at least the middle of the week.
