A teenage girl shot with an air rifle by her former boyfriend in Klaipėda last year is pursuing legal action, with her case now moving to court as prosecutors seek compensation for physical and emotional damages, LRT.lt reports.

The minor defendant, accused of causing non-severe bodily harm, will face trial under Article 138(1) of Lithuania’s Criminal Code. The victim’s legal representatives have filed a civil claim demanding over €2,300 in material damages and €5,000 for moral suffering.

The incident occurred in a public area near a Klaipėda supermarket in July 2025. According to the victim’s mother, the girl was lured to the meeting by her ex-boyfriend, also a minor, who then fired multiple shots at her legs and back without warning. Witnesses, including the attacker’s friends and an adult companion who had driven the victim to the meeting, reported no clear motive but noted his history of aggressive and jealous behavior.

The girl underwent two surgeries, though metal pellets remain lodged in her body. Her mother previously told LRT.lt that the psychological and physical toll had been severe, with the teen requiring ongoing medical and psychological support. Verbal threats, including misogynistic slurs, were also allegedly made during the attack.

The Klaipėda District Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the case was transferred to court on March 30, 2026. No further official comments have been provided.
