Vilnius holds March of Life to honour Holocaust victims
A March of Life was held in Vilnius on Sunday to honour Holocaust victims and express solidarity with the Jewish people and the State of Israel, as reported by LRT and BNS.
The event coincided with the international Holocaust Remembrance Day, Yom HaShoah. Participants gathered at Rudninkų Square before marching along Rudninkų Street, Rotušės Square, Didžioji Street, Pilies Street, Cathedral Square, and Gedimino Avenue, ending at Vinco Kudirkos Square. A memorial ceremony and concert followed the march.
Organisers stated that similar marches take place in over 50 cities across Europe, the United States, and South America. The event was expected to draw Lithuanian lawmakers, foreign diplomats, and representatives of the Jewish community.
Around six million Jews were killed during the Holocaust in World War II.
