Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda and Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė have extended Easter greetings to the country’s Old Believer and Orthodox Christian communities, who celebrate the holiday this Sunday, reports LRT.

In his message, Nausėda described Easter as a time of sacrifice, renewed hope, and openness to goodness. “The Resurrection reminds us of the power of faith and the victory of light,” he said, emphasising solidarity with Ukraine, where the holiday is marked amid ongoing war. “Faith and hope remain unshaken, strengthening our Ukrainian brothers as they face this Easter in the shadow of conflict.”

Prime Minister Ruginienė urged citizens to find peace and joy in community during the holiday. “May this special time bring calm and happiness, helping us move past anxiety in a world full of tension,” she wrote. “Let us be the source of light ourselves—supporting those who need it most in our communities and society.”
