Two men attempted to drug a concertgoer’s drink in Vilnius, victim recounts details
A Vilnius man has described how two strangers tried to spike his non-alcoholic drink with drugs during a concert, with the entire incident unfolding in just 10 seconds, LRT.lt reports.
The victim, identified only as Lukas, said he arrived early at an electronic music event in the capital and left his drink unattended while stepping outside to smoke. When he returned, he noticed two men—one blocking the table with his body while the other poured a substance from a small container into the bottle.
“It all took up to 10 seconds. He poured everything in, then lightly tapped the bottle on the table to mix it,” Lukas told LRT.lt. Confronting the men, he said they immediately fled to a restroom, emerging visibly shaken. One later approached him to “apologise” but refused to explain what had been poured into the drink.
Lukas reported the incident to police, but the suspects claimed they had simply wanted to take a sip from the abandoned bottle. Without evidence—no security cameras were present and Lukas had not retained the drink—the investigation was closed.
He believes the men may have mistaken his drink for a woman’s, suggesting a possible motive of sexual assault. “These people enjoy controlling others, dominating them—perhaps even sexual domination was the goal,” Lukas said. The experience left him questioning his safety: “Even if you arrive sober, even if you don’t use anything, you still can’t feel completely safe.”
Reda Jureliavičiūtė, co-founder of the NGO Ribologija, noted that drink-spiking occurs not only for sexual violence but also to facilitate theft or physical assault. She emphasised that no environment is 100% safe, urging vigilance with unattended drinks.
