Lithuanian soldier assaults two men while intoxicated in Vilnius

A Lithuanian soldier has been detained after assaulting two men while intoxicated in Vilnius early Monday, the Police Department reported.

According to authorities, the incident occurred at around 00:10 on L. Asanavičiūtės Street. A 1983-born corporal from the Grand Duke Gediminas Staff Battalion attacked two men during a confrontation. One victim, born in 1984, received outpatient medical treatment, while the other, born in 1988, was hospitalised.

The suspect, found to have a blood alcohol level of 1.67‰, was placed in custody. A pre-trial investigation has been launched.
