Rain and wet snow expected across Lithuania over Easter weekend
Lithuania’s Easter weekend will bring unsettled weather, with rain, wet snow and strong winds forecast across much of the country, the state hydrometeorological service reports.
Tadas Kantautas, a forecaster with the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service, said temperatures will fluctuate between slight overnight frosts and daytime highs of 9–14°C, with frequent showers and mixed precipitation in many regions.
Rain and gales on Saturday
Cloud cover will dominate overnight into Saturday, with scattered showers—including wet snow in places—particularly across northern areas. Southwesterly winds will strengthen, reaching 15–18 m/s along the coast, while temperatures range from –2°C to +3°C. Some black ice may form.
A new low-pressure system will move in from the west on Saturday, bringing persistent rain and gusty winds. Northern districts will see the heaviest rainfall, with isolated wet snow or sleet possible. Daytime temperatures will struggle to rise above 5–10°C.
Changeable conditions on Sunday
The low-pressure system will gradually weaken overnight into Sunday, though scattered showers—including sleet or snow pellets—may linger in some areas early in the night. Northwestern winds will remain strong at 15–18 m/s along the coast, with overnight lows between –2°C and +3°C.
Easter Sunday will start with clearer spells and sunshine, but a cold front approaching from the west will bring increasing cloud cover and rain by afternoon. Southwesterly winds will freshen, and temperatures will climb to 9–14°C in the warmer air mass ahead of the front.
Wet snow returns on Monday
The cold front will clear Lithuania by Monday morning, though unstable conditions will persist. Showers—including mixed precipitation—will return later in the day as another rain band moves in from the west. Strong southwesterly winds will continue, with temperatures holding between 0°C and 4°C overnight and 4–9°C by day.
Similar conditions are expected on Tuesday, with scattered showers, sleet, and gusty winds up to 20 m/s in places. Overnight lows will dip to 0–4°C, with daytime highs of 4–9°C.
