Vilnius police search for missing 42-year-old man last seen in Pilaitė district

Vilnius authorities are searching for a 42-year-old man who went missing after leaving his home in the capital’s Pilaitė district on March 31, LRT.lt reports. Antanas Juška was last spotted on April 1 near Karaliaučiaus Street but has not returned home, raising concerns due to his vulnerable mental state.

According to a public appeal shared on social media, Juška left his residence at around 12:00 on March 31 and was last seen at approximately 14:00 the following day. He is described as experiencing severe psychological distress, though non-aggressive, and may appear disoriented or frightened—particularly of police, medical personnel, or any form of pressure.

Distinctive behaviors include talking loudly to himself, expressing fears of being attacked or pursued, swaying while standing, or shuffling when walking. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and dark slip-on shoes without laces.

Authorities urge anyone who spots Juška to call emergency services immediately at 112 and approach him calmly, using simple, reassuring phrases such as, “Hello, is everything alright? Can I help you? Would you like to sit and rest?” Witnesses are advised to avoid mentioning police, arguing, or touching him, as he may be malnourished and without access to a phone or money.

The search has focused on the Pilaitė area, including nearby shopping centers and gas stations, though local hospitals report no record of his admission. Police emphasize that any sighting could be critical to locating him safely.
