Fraudsters steal €19,400 from a man and a company in Jurbarkas and Vilnius district

Fraudsters have stolen €19,400 from a man and a company in Jurbarkas and Vilnius district, Lithuanian police reported on Monday, according to public broadcaster LRT.

In Jurbarkas, a company transferred €14,000 to a foreign bank account after receiving fake invoicing details via email, allegedly from foreign partners. The transaction, for a vehicle purchase, was made at 14:19 on Monday.

Meanwhile, in Vilnius district, an unidentified man born in 1956 was defrauded of €5,400 after receiving calls from unknown individuals posing as mobile service providers and police officers. The scammers convinced the victim to transfer the money while he was at home.

Preliminary investigations into the fraud cases have been launched.
