Teenager hospitalised in Vilnius after suspected drug overdose

A minor has been taken to a Vilnius hospital after a suspected drug overdose, Lithuanian public broadcaster LRT reported on Saturday.

The 18-year-old was admitted to the hospital at around 2:30 PM from a public area on Užupio Street in Vilnius. According to the Police Department, the teenager admitted to using narcotic substances earlier that day.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the unlawful possession of narcotic or psychotropic substances without intent to distribute. Under Lithuanian law, unauthorised manufacture, processing, acquisition, storage, transport, or distribution of such substances can result in penalties ranging from community service to fines, restriction of liberty, arrest, or imprisonment for up to two years.
