Lithuanian police launch two pre-trial investigations into violence against minors
Lithuanian police have opened two pre-trial investigations into separate cases of violence against minors in Vilnius and Šalčininkai district, public broadcaster LRT reports.
In the first incident, Vilnius police received a report that a 44-year-old woman had physically assaulted a 12-year-old child between March 18 and 20 at a residence in the capital, causing bodily harm. Authorities launched a pre-trial investigation into allegations of inflicting physical pain or minor health impairment.
A second investigation was initiated after police were notified of another assault on March 25 in Šalčininkai district. A 47-year-old intoxicated man (blood alcohol level 3.12‰) allegedly attacked an 11-year-old during a conflict at a private home, also causing physical harm. Police confirmed the suspect was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
Both cases are being investigated under articles of the Criminal Code related to causing physical pain or minor health damage to a minor.
