Fraudsters have swindled nearly €34,600 from two residents in separate scams in Jurbarkas and Vilnius, Lithuanian police reported Tuesday.

A 76-year-old woman in Vilnius lost €21,093 on March 22 after unknown individuals accessed her bank account, according to the Police Department. Authorities did not specify how the fraud occurred.

In Jurbarkas, a 54-year-old man was targeted on March 23 by callers posing as telecom company employees, bank staff, and police officers. Speaking in Lithuanian and Russian, the scammers convinced the victim to hand over his bank card, then withdrew €13,500 from his account.

Preliminary investigations into both cases have been launched on suspicion of fraud.
