A tree falling in Jurbarkas district forest kills man

A falling tree during logging operations in a forest in western Lithuania killed a man on Saturday, police said.

According to Marijampolė County Police, the accident occurred at about 11:48 a.m. in Paskynai village, Jurbarkas district. Preliminary information indicates that during tree-felling, a falling tree struck and fatally injured a man born in 1954. He was pronounced dead at Raseiniai Hospital at 1:32 p.m. the same day.

Police have launched a pre-trial investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the death.
