Lithuanian Special Investigation Service (STT) has transferred to court a bribery case involving an employee of the country’s defence system.

A Vilnius-based company and one of its shareholders, identified only by the initials E. G., are accused of offering a bribe exceeding €3,000 to a defence system employee in December 2025, according to the prosecution.

The alleged bribe was reportedly given in exchange for favourable evaluation of the company’s construction work carried out under a public procurement contract with the Ministry of National Defence (KAM).

The charges, filed under the Criminal Code for bribery, carry penalties including fines, restrictions on liberty, arrest or imprisonment of up to four years.

Earlier, the Ministry of National Defence reported receiving a whistleblower tip in December 2025 about the suspected bribery. The employee involved reported the incident themselves, and Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas stated that the case demonstrated the system’s resilience to corruption and should serve as an example for others.

The case has been assigned to a court in Kaunas.
