Fraudsters posing as bank employees, telecom staff, and police officers have swindled €24,800 from two victims in Vilnius and Klaipėda, Lithuanian public broadcaster LRT reports, citing the Police Department.

A 56-year-old man in the Vilnius region reported losing €11,800 after receiving calls from unknown individuals between March 16 and 18. The scammers, speaking Lithuanian and Russian, claimed to represent a telecommunications company, a bank, and law enforcement before convincing the victim to transfer the money.

In a separate case, a 76-year-old woman in Klaipėda was defrauded of €13,000 between March 9 and 15. The scammers, posing as police officers and speaking Russian, targeted her in a similar scheme. Both incidents are under pre-trial investigation.
